A Little Housekeeping

Today I will be taking care of a little housekeeping on my blog.

Due to some unsolicited and misguided judgement heaped on me it has become necessary
to once again remind everyone of the reason for my blog, to emphasize the disclaimers
that are on the side of every post, and to educate those that seem unfamiliar with fair
blogging practices.

When you find a link to a site that you want to share with others, it's nice to site the original source where you found your information. It's the right thing to do.

Linking back giving credit isn't a requirement to be in the internet community or on the blogosphere, but it's the nice thing to do whenever possible. It leaves a trail for other bloggers to find the original source and re-post if they so desire.

This brings me to an important issue.

I was approached yesterday by a company who clearly does not understand proper etiquette when reposting, so I thought it would be important to talk about the subject so everyone understands that as a party, entertainment and lifestyle blogger, I talk about the things I like, things that inspire me, share ideas, offer tips and links to DIY tutorials, great recipes, entertainment sites, and creative party planning, etc. with my readers.

The post that this individual questioned me about did have a link to my original source. This means my post not only followed proper etiquette guidelines but also was free exposure for this company, as it was driving my readers to the original source of the story, which had credit to all of the vendors that participated in putting together the event.

However, with all that said, this individual wanted credit to her company specifically on my blog and I have no problem with that. Let me repeat, I have no problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is the way it was handled. The way it was brought to my attention was through several negative blog comments and a facebook blast trying to discredit my company, before I even had a chance to resolve the issue to her satisfaction.

Based on her approach, I removed the post so as not to have any more connection to her - and that was the source of more fodder for her on her facebook page.

These situations will be dealt with in due time, and in the proper way.

I felt it was necessary to discuss this on my blog for 2 reasons.

First, as always if you see a post that has an inaccurate link, or an incomplete link, or you feel has violated your rights to images or credit for work done, please feel free to approach me and I will be more than happy to make any necessary corrections.

Secondly, I always conduct my business with honesty and integrity and feel blessed to be doing what I love. My motives are always pure, so please know that there is never an intent to slight anyone with regard to credit on my posts.

"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:31

If there is anyone who conducts not just their business but their life with honesty and integrity, it is you, Julie. You are one class act and I'm proud to call you my friend.
Any crackpot who causes you grief needs to move on.

Oh Julie! That is awful! It is unfortunate you have had to deal with this. Unfortunately some people never learn how to act with proper etiquette and manners.
